Betty Padgett’s self-titled 1975 debut album easily holds its own with many of the acknowledged soul classics of the era but somehow remains an obscurity, one definitely worth seeking out (it’s streaming on Spotify). Based in Fort Lauderdale, Padgett still has a powerful voice that can easily alternate between gruff and sweet, sexy and playful. Inactive as of 2/1/18
