About Mac Martin
Singer/Songwriter/Publisher
Gordon Mac Martin, 4th Generation Floridian, is a 2013 Winner Top Ten Will McLean Best New Florida Song Contest "Ed Watson" on Wrinkles In Rhyme is my latest CD. Released in March of 2013, it has 13 original songs. Mac performed and played most of the instruments on all the songs, with the exception of the Jazz Flute, which is James Walsh, excellent drums on some songs by Paul Evers, and ripping bass by Paul Seusy on "Sad Farewell".
Otherwise, Mac has been writing songs since high school. I still remember many, and I continue to write new ones. Most of what Mac writes are love songs, some of my favorites were written for family member's weddings.
Of all Mac’s songs the "Florida Cowboys", with lyrics by Victor Milt, has gotten more exposure than any other. It was in two award winning documentary films: Cowboys of Florida and Cracker- The Last Cowboys of Florida. Cowboys of Florida won "Directors Choice" at Bluegrass Film Festival 2006 - LaGrange, Kentucky wins Silver at Ole Muddy Film Fest,2006, Wisconsin “Cracker “won Florida Choice Award in Independent's Film Festival and finalist in Palm Beach International Film Festival.
CRACKER - The Last Cowboys of Florida 2008-2009
This popular feature has won 14 national awards including two Best Director, two Best Florida Film and a standing ovation at the packed Jacksonville International Film Festival.
The Gordon Mac Martin Group has produced 4 CD's. “ Debut aLa Americana” 2013, “Wrinkles in Rhyme” 2013, “All the Good Things I've Got” 2005, and “Live at Crowley” 2007. They are available at www.cdbaby.com and other online stores. The new break though CD will be titled "Nashville" and will be out in time for the Showcase.
Reviews:
“Mac sings about real people and personal experience. His songs are upbeat and optimistic, and even catchy. For the professionals: “You think the song is going to be standard 1-4-5 groove Americana Pop groove, and then BAM! There’s a flatted sixth on the chorus.” Paul Seusy, Esq.
“Truly, Florida's most treasured troubadour. A real son of the region. When Mac
steps on the stage you can be assured that he will give you something out of
The ordinary. He will leave you with a smile on your face and song in your
heart. His poetic lyrics are created from literate and heart-felt consideration, and
all of it backed up by highly effective guitar licks that amplify the entire set.” Gloria Holloway
“Don’t Call and Ambulance: There is actually something very nice about this track. It's very simple, pure and without wanting to sound too arty....this song is very honest…, it is a really really good little track. I genuinely wish you all the best Gordon” Regards Stuart
