Back in early 71 the band was a three piece band,Myself, Tony Lianes Paul Valdez, Alex Vega, we use to practice in a little park in Ybor on Fl. Ave just north of Columbus Dr. We would set up our equipment and just play didn't know what the heck we were doing had only about a year and a half playing for myself and the bass player just jamming in the park and all the little kids would come and just dance it was a fun time!! Then I said lets find a key board player so we did His name was Jim Moon.R.I.P. Ok had fun with that, so then I said let's get a girl singer to add a lot of good female song to the list.Her name was KathyLopez. Well that didn't last long she booked right before the first gig not so much has changed LOL. So we came across this Great singer her name was Joyce Porter that was her stage name her real name was Joyce Schwartz R.I.P. she was an awesome person.So Our first gig as Strut was a bowling alley in Zephyrhills,Fl. in fact I have a recording of that gig on a little Panasonic cassette player LOL so anyway after that we went on the road for a few years with the Jean Martin Agency ( because we weren't quite good enough for the Tampa scene yet) They were some hot bands back then to compete with and you know who you are. Here are a few Oscar Santana, Hit and Run, Asule, Solution,Exchange, they were a lot more out there, but then I met this Agent Ron Skolnik (Talent South) were his bands and we played a certain circuit like the Casbah, Stables,Brass Ballon, Islands Club,The Pad. So now we were added in on this circuit and that's where we were introduced to all you wonderful and loyal people till this day come out and support us now thats Loyal after all these years!!! The Band has changed members different times through the years and the only Originals are myself and Charlie Gonzalez ( our Front Man). You can say we grew up together, in fact some of us did !!! I love seeing all of you having fun it makes worthwhile and makes me happy it brings bring back great memories and takes us back to a good time,fun time in our lives just to reminisce of the Old days when we use to dance our butts off love it and you all can still do it the proof was last month ??
