Go back today and listen to The Kinsey Report’s 1987 career-making debut album “Edge of the City” and it sounds as fresh as anything currently on the blues chart. Released on the venerable Alligator Records, “Edge of the City” quickly established The Kinsey Report as a top-shelf Chicago blues band that could bring finely-executed barroom funk to the masses while also proving skillful with the topical standout track “Full Moon on Main Street.” In the decades since the band hasn’t released an album yet that quite matches the all-around brilliance of their debut but the Kinsey siblings continues to burn up the blues circuit with Donald’s soulful vocals and hot guitar playing propelled by the rhythm section of Ralph (drums) and Kenneth (bass), with choice riffs from Andy Ogrodzinski on rhythm guitar.
